Update: Boy needs 60 stitches after pit bull bite
HERMITAGE -- A 32-year-old Hermitage woman faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment after her 1 1/2-year-old Rottweiller named “Cruz” bit a Farrell boy July 15 at her apartment in the Orange Village apartment complex, police said.
April Hughes of 400 Orange Drive, Apartment 2, was also cited with harboring a dangerous dog because this is the ninth time Cruz has bitten someone, police said.
Police allege Ms. Hughes left the boy alone with the dog in the apartment and he was attacked. The boy needed 60 stitches for a head wound, police said.

I want to say that this is a sad situation. I feel for the the family.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there was definitely some neglect here no doubt.
These things are tragedies that do NOT need to happen. I'm sad that this child was hurt!
So the ONLY important point isn't the profiling but it's definitely not ok that these situations are brought up in the media with the label Pit Bull when it's not.

They should make a correction on this.
ReplyDeleteNice reporting there...but not uncommon. I talked about this in Pit Bull class it's a huge problem.
ReplyDeleteAre they saying the dog had already had 9 reported bites? If so, I wonder why the heck the dog was not euthanized 4 bites ago?
I sent an email to the editor asking them to make a correction.

Y'all should go click the link to this article now... it's been password protected. What's that all about? You can't read the article! I'm off to find another report of this because people NEED to see how the media contributes to breed bans and our dogs being taken away from their families and killed.
