Tackle Vick Campaign

In the rescue world, feelings are obviously still running high over Michael Vick's return to the NFL.

With the Oakland Raiders scheduled to play Philadelphia on October 18th, Concerned Dog Owners of California has kicked off a potentially controversial campaign to help Oakland area shelters this weekend. According to the CDOC web site, the rescue group will give 5 bags of food to Oakland shelters for every time Vick is tackled during the game. CDOC is encouraging people to donate to the campaign, and says it will match the First $1500 pledged.

What do you think about the campaign? We want to get readers' thoughts this time instead of just stating our opinion.

  1. Do it! I couldn't believe it when Vick was accepted back in the NFL!

  2. I hadn't heard of this organization before. I checked out their website and read "our goal is to be a voice for dogs in a climate where large and powerful organizations have a goal of eliminating domesticated dogs." The day we have a shortage of dogs is the day I welcome the breeders to bring more into this world. But I don't think I'll see that in my lifetime.

At least they are supporting shelters with this Vick tackle challenge. It's kind of funny, so I say go for it.

  3. I'm afraid it will help him look like a "victim" of "crazed unforgiving animal activists".

  4. Looking forward to what people think about this. I thought I knew what was on the CDOC website but don't remember this quote. "our goal is to be a voice for dogs in a climate where large and powerful organizations have a goal of eliminating domesticated dogs." Could it have come from another site or a blog?

  6. Excellent Idea! But hopefully he won't have the ball that much to even be tackled, I don't wanna see him being used that much, very ready for McNabb to be back in! Totally upset with BET and Viacom for giving him his own show!! ugh! yuck!

  7. I would like to see him tackled and not walk off the field. I am sick that the NFl has let him come back and make 6 million dollars.
