A New Day for Pit Bulls

We are so proud to see Recycled Love's Sweet Jasmine make the cover of Sports Illustrated. We think they do really wonderful work. To see one the these wonderful dogs make it on the cover of this mag along with a fantastic article by Jim Gorant is truly a new day for Pit Bulls and also makes for a wonderful Christmas.

  1. Great cover and article.
I would like to see them do a more extensive article on the dogs that have become Therapy dogs not only from that Fight Bust but from other Busts.
I don`t think the Public understands what an accomplishment that really is for ANY dog regardless of Breed but Pit Bulls also have to overcome the stereotype and be accepted by the community in order to put those skills to work.

Merry Christmas to all and hugs to the Pibbles.
I hope more get to have happy Christmas` due to this article.

BTW your word verification doesn`t seem to work with Firefox.
Had to switch to IE to see any letters.

  2. I REALLY like that they mention that PETA and Humane Society wanted to euthanize these dogs! Not many people know that and it's in the first couple paragraphs. Very cool.

  4. Pibble Pal-

Amen to that! As we have other bust dogs that are certified therapy dogs we have put it out there to show that Leo is not a fluke. Pit Bulls are molded for this work. It's in them.

Thanks SO much for bringing up that point. It's a GOOD one!

Steph- Yep, glad they happened to mention the nay sayers. Very important point.

Mary- I just want to frame that cover! It's awesome!

  6. Wow, what a great article and cover story! Awesome job with the details on the story and what could be more touching than the story of Sweet Jasmine. What a great job Catalina did with Sweet Jasmine and what a great job they do with Recycled love. So much good work, so well done. I am so proud and uplifted by their efforts. Sincerely, Mike

  8. this is a great piece of press because it's going in a magazine where the readership isn't primarily dog/animal lovers. i really hope and think it will open some eyes for people who see bully dogs through a narrow lens of 10 sentence articles or 60 second tv spots on dog/pit bull attacks.

  10. I can't find words to express the disgust I feel about Michael Vick and his cohorts for what they did to those dogs. I hope they're enjoying their "cages" and the life long effects their choices will have on their lives. Nothing quite like living out your shame in a very public way. The one good thing that came out of this is some public awareness of the plight of this breed.

I'm always happy to see any positive media coverage of Pit Bulls - the cover picture and lengthy article were especially exciting.

PETA - there's another lengthy story. They should change their name to PETSA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Some Animals!

  11. Maria, you're right.

We need to get others to see and admit that saving these dogs was a success. This article really tells that story. Look at Leo, giving BACK to the community.....

  12. Without being politically incorrect, we also need to get the word out that there are many many skilled rescues all over the country who can help when these situations come up. The more we can work together the more dogs we can help. I am thrilled to see Recycled Love get some much deserved kudos for the work they have done!

  14. Just picked this up over the weekend and stood in the magazine aisle at Target and cried while I read it. Then I went home and hugged my own pit. Excellent article and good to see the dogs are doing well. Kudos to all out there who continue to do good work and educate the public on these great dogs.
